Jezera is a place in the Šibenik-Knin County in the region of central dalmatia in the southeast part of the island of Murter. It belongs zo the municipality of Tisno, and after Tisno it is the second largest town in the municipality.
It is 28 km from Šibenik, 60 km from Zadar,100 km from Split.
The town has won numerous awards by the CTB, and the last one was in 2011 for the most beautiful waterfront and the Blue Flower award the same year.
The name Jezera(Lakes) comes from the fact that the rain stops in the impermeable soil and creates large puddles. Blato or Jezero, in ancient times wetlands southwest of the town, were drained due to malaria in the early 20th century,while the other body of water cakked Lokva is full of water during the rain periods.
ACI Marina is one of the most awarded and environmentally conscious nautical centers of northern Dalmatia and the winner of the Blue Flag.
Jezera has numerous churches, most of all the places on the island. so in Jezera we have small church of ST. Nicholas, ST. Rocco,St.Constantius and the main church of Our Lady of Health, which was built in 1722 and in which there is an altar of Our lady of Seven Sorrows, which is considered one of the most beautiful wooden altars in Dalmatia.
Cultural Association Koledišće Jezera, which was established in 1970, successfully represents Jezera on all major festivals in Croatia, as well as in Turkey, Slovakia, France, Slovenia, Austria…and has received numerous awards and prizes.
Jezera’s Days of the Sea are an event that lasts from mid-July to early September. They offer numerous cultural events, and enetertainment and sports activities of which the following stand out-‘How our ancestors lived’, ‘Fisherman’s Festival’, gastro nights…
BIG GAME FISHING- Sports-fishing club ‘Punta rata Jezera was founded in 1996. The International competition of big game fishing called ‘Big Game Fishing-Jezera is organized in the last week in September.
Jezera have a very rich gastronomic offer. Throughout the town there a many restaurants, tavers and snack bars with a wide selection of fresh fish, seafood and other delicacies.
You can buy freshly caught fish every evening at the waterfront when the fishing boats returning from fishing.
